Communion & Liberation
Communion and Liberation
Communion and Liberation (CL) is a Catholic lay movement born out of the charism of Monsignor Luigi Giussani. As a high school teacher in 1950s Italy, Msgr. Giussani saw that his students viewed their faith as something separate from their day to day reality. Thus, he spent his life seeking to show that faith could be relevant to life’s needs. The CL movement grew from this experience, and today is present in communities around the world, including across the U.S. CL received pontifical recognition from Pope John Paul II in 1982.
The weekly meetings focus on catechesis through texts by Msgr. Giussani, with an emphasis on comparing the faith to lived experience. The group will meet Fridays at 7:30pm in the St. Joseph Room in the Parish Center.
