Mindful Eating for the Fall and Winter Seasons

Parish Health Ministry is sponsoring a Nutrition and Health Seminar to address mindful eating over the fall and winter seasons, Thursday, November 9, at 7-8:30pm in the St. Gertrude School cafeteria. This class will include a presentation on mindful eating during Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations, ideas for using in season produce, as well as preparing for a healthy start into the new year. The presenter will be Peachy Seiden, PhD, MS, RDN, a Registered Dietitian, nutrition counselor and parishioner. There is no charge but donations for St. Gertrude Church are welcome at the door. From Prescription to Addiction

On Thursday, November 16, from 7:00-8:30pm, St. Gertrude Health Ministry would like to welcome Charlie (Charles) Broussard R.Ph., M.Ed., FAPhA for a presentation on our current drug crisis. Mr. Broussard is a Pharmacist for Mercy Health Fairfield Hospital for over 30 years, is the Editor of the Pharmacist Recovery Network website and is a national educator, counselor and consultant in the field of chemical dependency. This program is a first-hand introduction to understanding drug use and misuse leading to the opioid epidemic. Mr. Broussard’s presentation will review opioids, their history and value in medicine, their abuse and current crisis, addiction and treatment, and paths to recovery. Addictions are a complex disorder of the brains reward system and continue to be a growing concern, touching many individuals, families, spanning generations, cultures and economy.
