From Prescription to Addiction - Parish Health Ministry

On Thursday, November 16, from 7:00-8:30pm, St. Gertrude Health Ministry would like to welcome Charlie (Charles) Broussard R.Ph., M.Ed., FAPhA for a presentation on our current drug crisis. Mr. Broussard is a Pharmacist for Mercy Health Fairfield Hospital for over 30 years, is the Editor of the Pharmacist Recovery Network website and is a national educator, counselor and consultant in the field of chemical dependency. This program is a first-hand introduction to understanding drug use and misuse leading to the opioid epidemic. Mr. Broussard’s presentation will review opioids, their history and value in medicine, their abuse and current crisis, addiction and treatment, and paths to recovery. Addictions are a complex disorder of the brains reward system and continue to be a growing concern, touching many individuals, families, spanning generations, cultures and economy. The program will be held in the St. Gertrude School cafeteria. Attendance is free and open to the public. For information and registration contact: Judith Morey at jutkamorey@aol.com.
