Re-dedication for the Rachel Statue at Gate of Heaven

Please set aside the morning of Saturday, June 13, 2015 for an important pro-life event. On that morning, at 11:00 am, you can join Bishop Binzer, the Fourth Degree in all their impressive regalia, and members of your and other councils and pro-life organizations for the re-dedication of the Rachel Statue at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

For those who don’t know, on August 1, 1998, your Greater Cincinnati Chapter K of C dedicated this Rachel Statue at Gate of Heaven, the fifth such statue or memorial placed at local cemeteries. Bishop Moedel blessed the statue then and the Fourth Degree stood proudly as an honor guard.

The Rachel figure has become an icon for the pro-life movement, and so it was chosen for this memorial. To emphasize the ongoing efforts for the pro-life movement, the Rachel Statue will be rededicated this year, and your presence is requested. Most of us are familiar with Gate of Heaven Cemetery, as we have friends or family interned there. When you have visited the Cemetery, you may have noticed the statue, placed on a prominent intersection, not too far from the entrance. It is the statue of Rachel, who is mentioned in Jeremiah, Chapter 13.

The Rachel Statue as well as its predecessors was paid for by donations from local councils, pro-life organizations, and private donations. It represents well our Order’s undying commitment to the pro-life movement.

As Knights we are ardently pro-life. This will be a great way to emphasize that to the world through the prayers we will offer that day. It will be a good lesson for your kids, grandkids, friends, everyone! And everyone is invited.

Planning is just beginning, but the cemetery staff is on board, Greater Cincinnati Right to Life is on board, the Chapter is on board. Will you join us? Say Yes!
