Presentation on the Shroud of Turin

Wednesday, March 28th
1:15 - 2:30 pm
Parish Center Lobby Given by Fred Thomas

The talk will explore the historical journey of the Shroud and how it came to be in Turin. Scientific evidence will be discussed authenticating the Shroud as the burial cloth of a man scourged, having a crown of thorns, crucified by nailing to a cross, and having his side pierced with a lance, exactly as Christ was depicted in the Gospels. The carbon 14 dating will be discussed and why it inaccurately dated the cloth, and what evidence disproves the test. Forensic analysis will also be presented detailing the extent of the wounds and the excruciating pain of crucifixion. Some of the top scientists in the US participated in this study.

This is an excellent way to discern the suffering Christ undertook for our sins, especially during Holy Week. While science may never be able to definitively answer the question that this is the burial shroud of Christ, the evidence overwhelmingly points to that conclusion.
