Stewardship (Giving)

Stewardship and Development 03/11/12

“You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything …” Exodus 20:4

Have you created idols for yourself in different shapes? An idol can be in the shape of money, sports, fashion, travel, or anything else we value more than God and His Word to us. As we enter into the 3rd Sunday of Lent, let’s help each other be accountable to God’s Word and continue our fasting and doing good works above and beyond the pleasures of indulging in idolatry and its related activities. After all, that is what stewardship calls us to do and be — more for others and for our God.

Stewardship and Development 03/04/12

It has truly been a blessing to welcome so many new families to our parish and school thus far in 2011-2012. So many of them have become involved in parish and school life already, thereby helping us start a new chapter in the history of St. Gertrude. As you can see by the photos of our most recent Stewardship Sunday, interest remains high for those seeking ways to offer their God-given talent to further our ministries.

Stewardship and Development 02/26/12

The topic of money can be a sensitive one, but we can’t shy away from tough topics as it affects our parish livelihood. Over the course of the past few months, the pastor has addressed our budget issues so as to remain totally transparent to you. As you know, there are many opportunities to share your resources throughout the year and we are entering another surge period. As we reinvigorate school development efforts with an annual fund appeal, we are also nearing the ramp-up of spring sports and festival presale activity.

St Gertrude Parish Lenten Stewardship of Prayer

Pray. Fast. Share.

Together as a parish, we enter into this Season of Lent - this time of conversion - with open hearts, minds and spirits.

As we travel along the journey, we pray that we may find God’s Peace in quiet moments of prayer, God’s Strength in times of sacrifice, and God’s Love in each other’s generous Acts of kindness.

Together, we continue to live the Mission of Christ.

Stewardship Council

This week marks my six-month anniversary as the Stewardship and Development Director at Saint Gertrude Parish! Through God’s providence, many prayers, and tremendous support from this community, I am feeling more entrenched in the many ―nooks and crannies‖ that make up stewardship in the parish. At their first committee meeting held earlier this month (see photo below), the new stewardship representatives learned what was planned for the rest of this year and began the

Profile in Stewardship - Kevin Lynch

Kevin Lynch, one of the Co-founders of the Catholic Men’s Fellowship of Greater Cincinnati in 1986, has been a member of St. Gertrude Parish for many years. He served as President of the Cincinnati Fellowship for many years and was Coordinator of the “ANSWER THE CALL” Men’s Conferences for nine years.

Kevin helped establish the National Fellowship of Catholic Men in 1999 and recently retired as the Chief Executive and Trustee of that organization following 10 years of service. He is now stepping down from his leadership of the Parish-based Catholic Men’s Fellowship group at St. Gertrude after several years at the helm. We decided to sit down with Kevin and learn what led to him to help establish the Catholic men’s movement, in Cincinnati and nationally, and why he devoted 25 years of his life to it.
