Grounds Care

Maintain and improve the landscaping on the parish grounds to enhance the worship experience of the parishioners and to save the added cost to the parish so funds are available for higher priority items. We do “yard work” from light gardening to heavy, landscaping jobs. Meeting times vary but are usually twice a week. Some gardeners come on their own to take care of an area.

Membership: Open to any parishioner

Spring Plant Sale

May 14th and 15th

Help support the various Landscaping Projects on the parish grounds implemented by the gardening volunteers. If you cannot donate any of the items below, come and do your shopping! We will have plenty of great items for sale.

Plant Sale:

While cleaning up your property for the new growing season, keep us in mind when thinning out crowded or no longer needed perennials, such as Iris, Hosta, special grasses, small shrubs, small trees, etc. Label the group or items with any particulars, such as name, color of bloom, height, and anything else that might help them sell. Pot them if you can (we will have empty pots for you to use in the extra lot) and drop off the plants the week of the sale. Please, only donate items that have a good survival rate! Decorative pots, lawn ornaments, and other gardening items can also be donated.

Grounds Care - Sept 2013

Have you seen the new sidewalk? We finally crossed one item off our "to do" list! We were able to install the sidewalk, one of our long time visions, with money raised through our successful plant sales and a few private donations to the project. WE DID NOT USE ANY MONEY FROM THE PARISH! But we still have to pay for landscaping in the area. We will try to use some of our "free" plants left over from the sale, but we have to buy some other plantings, mulch and re-seed the lawn.

Ground Care Notes

How do you like it? Hopefully by now, the new sidewalk will be finished. I AM HAPPY TO SAY, WE DID NOT USE ANY MONEY FROM THE PARISH FOR THIS PROJECT!

Grounds Care - Final Summer Clean-Up

Final Summer Clean Up, Saturday, August 3 at 9:30am (a weekday morning could be arranged if there is enough interest)

All are welcome to join the grounds care volunteers in trimming shrubs, light pruning of trees, raking, pick-up of trimmings, hauling to dump, watering and general clean-up. GARDENING KNOWLEDGE HELPFUL BUT NOT NEEDED, JUST A WILLINGNESS TO WORK AND MAKE YOUR PARISH GROUNDS LOOK BEAUTIFUL.

Also, consider watering a small area of the landscaped beds once a week during the summer months. We can show you how; you just need to make this commitment.

A Big Thank You To All Who Helped Make Our Plant And Bake Sale A Success. Thanks to the bakers, the people who donated plants, the set-up people, the people who staffed the sale, the ones who helped clean up at the end and especially those who shopped at the sale. Through your participation at this and past sales, we can now cover the cost of the sidewalk to the north parking lot, a small seating area, and a few additional plantings to aid in the safety of our children.

Final Plant Sale of the Year

PLANT SALE

Thanks for your support during our FALL SALE the last weekend in September. We did extremely well but we still have a lot of plants left over. COME VISIT US AT THE LADIES OF CHARITY CRAFT FAIR ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20. You can still get some great plants AT GREAT PRICES!

Not sure of our location for the sale at this time, but we will be outside somewhere on the property. All of the monies raised at these plant sales go directly toward our Landscape Fund that we use to beautify the parish grounds.
