Lay Fraternities Of St Dominic – Our Lady Of Peace Fraternity
Meets in the St. Gertrude School Cafeteria or St. Gertrude School Cafeteria
Greetings from Our Lady of Peace Chapter of the Lay Fraternities of St. Dominic (Lay Dominicans)
Lay Dominicans are members of the Order of Preachers who strive for the sanctification of ourselves and those around us. We do this through lives of prayer and study, sharing the fruits of our contemplation by participating in our chapters and apostolates. The Lay Fraternities of St. Dominic seek to evangelize the secular world, reaching people the friars, nuns, and sisters cannot.
People interested in joining the Lay Fraternities are welcome to contact us Mr. Fred Thomas, O.P. at email@example.com and/or attend a meeting.
Where: St. Gertrude’s School Library
When: The second Monday of the month (please contact us ahead of time to make sure we have not moved it for special event).
Time: 7:00 to 8:45 PM
Monthly Meeting Agenda: Social Time, Evening Prayer, Business Items, Chapter Study, and Rosary.
Outside Activities: Individuals must complete a year-and-a-half period of formation, including monthly sessions with our novice instructor. We expect all members to pray the Liturgy of the Hours every morning and evening, as well as engage in individual study and an apostolate. Every year the Lay Dominicans in the Ohio and Kentucky Region host a retreat led by a Dominican friar. The chapter also has an apostolate where members volunteer at Venice on Vine, an outreach program in Cincinnati to help individuals complete their GED and learn basic job skills.
